Re: Insane auction prices

Recently saw an auction for three bottles:

2005 Fonseca LBV (unfiltered);
1988 Fonseca Guimaraens; and
1985 Churchill’s Vintage Port.

“Estimate = £200 - £300.”

BP (ca. 30%) would then be added...

Re: Smoking Bishop & other Mulled Ports

I followed the method above last weekend using a couple of bottles of M&S Port Decanter as the base Port. I dubiously adjusted quantities according to the, albeit newly jazzily labelled, 50 cL bottles and it was a success (I presume your bottles were 75 cL, Jacob?).

Re: Taylor 77 later release?

I am aware of at least one labelling of T77, which took place in November 2009, using the newer-style.

Taylor’s website provides an example of what such a bottle looks like here: https://taylor.pt/en/port-wine/classic- ... ntage-port

1994 Quinta do Vesuvio

Very dark ruby red wine which provided a wonderfully rich coating of the glass. I was surprised that the first aroma I picked up was dark chocolate, followed by figs, spices (thinking of those used around Christmas) and sweet dark red fruit. On the palate this profile was reversed, with the tannins ...

Re: Wine themed Films

The 2016 (documentary) film “A Year in Port” (1h 26m) includes much more than a passing reference to Port, and includes a passing reference to Douro table wines.
