Re: Summer offline in The Netherlands - 9 July 2010

A bit late perhaps, but if it is still possible, than Petra and myself would like to attend as well! We can provide 85, 95, 96, 97, 00 and / or 03. I'll let Ronnie pick his favourites, but I do think a '77 should be included... 88)

Ruddy, the label states that it was bottled by an English company (one that I have never heard of, BTW): 1970 was the last year that was possible. So yes, you do have 2 bottles of 70GC. Fill level on the left bottle is low though - what else was in the lot?

I enjoyed the match, and was rather surprised by the lacklustre preformance of the Italians. We celebrated "our" victory with a double magnum of Zenato 2005 Valpolicalla Superiore (tasty stuff, by the way)!

Some of those '77 will be rather young, so should pair well with your famous Stilton... 88) I can also provide 6 identical decanters for the tasting, as well as a set of official IVDP-stemware. LadyCage also offers her comfortable home (crawling distance from our venue) to host a Port-smelling guest, so no worries about sleeping arrangements. But should you prefer the hospitality of Leontien and Jeroen; no problem - and at least you've crashed there before... :)

I was pleasantly surprised by the Offley '63 last week - drinking very well. Sandeman '63 should make for a nice pairing.
Skip the 85's: Burmester suffers from VA and Noval '85 is lacklustre and boring.

1977 Calem VP

1977 Calem VP this looks old: pale tawny. Not a very expressive nose, light dried fruit aromas and caramel. Light bodied, sweet, with fig and rasin flavours. Long finish, unfortunately sharpish sweet, almost burning. Should have been drunk at least 5 years earlier.
