Yes - not far from my current child support base however!

1991 Niepoort

Enjoyed at £18/glass at The White Swan, Fence 11/04/24.

Dark red. Fairly mild red fruity nose although a strong spirity hit. Blackcurrants on the palate with a hot mouth feel. Not a terribly finessed Port but certainly more than drinkable.

Re: The Port Forum Babies and their Vintages

Didn't realise this was a thing - many thanks for the kind message Alex. Very pleased to annouce the birth of my twins, Otilia and Sasha. Both babies are doing very well and mum has recovered brilliantly. If you're wondering why I have been cancelling all my tasting appearances, you now know.

So I’ve just bought my summer supply of Kopke 10YO White and Kopke 2010 White Colheita.
I got Pocas 2016 for less than £25 a bottle and Niepoort 2019 LBV for £15 (also an Amex offer with waitrose which can be combined)

Back to practical organising - please could the following people let me know what (if any) 1994 VPs they could offer for the tasting:
  • JDAW
  • MPM
  • ZDR
I'm afraid I will have to pull out of this tasting.

Slightly less viscous than cough syrup but getting there and brown in the glass. Apricots and caramels. Beautiful.

1994 Croft

My first port in... Well months actually! Coravined from a bottle.

Lovely strawberry nose. Quite a strong and spirity in the mouth, fruit and molasses finish.

God I've missed Port!

Pencil lead nose, candied cherries coming through clearly on the nose. Still a bit fruity in the mouth and decent balance. Quite enjoyable!

Relatively muted - perhaps molasses nose. Tastes older than it is and generally quite muted. Past its best but still drinkable.

I am unfortunately unable to attend this anymore.

My official stance is "absolutely gutted".

If anyone is able to supply the 94 in my absence that would be ideal. Otherwise, I'll find a way to get it to the event.

Curious, indeed. Some day I hope to get to taste a 1993 Quinta das Liceiras! Was the order of tasting as listed in the first post? That might have impacted the perception of some of the wines. The placemats were naively arranged. We all started with the white and reds which we presumed to be the mo...

As George described it, a "curious" tasting. WOTN =Calem 30YO 2nd =1993 Royal Tokaji Mézes Mály Aszú (50cl) 3rd = 1993 Barros LBV The 93 ruby ports are certainly feeling a bit tired but still drinkable. The Barros was the clear standout here still with a bit of fruit hanging on in there. T...
