Re: 2003 Graham
Red to the rim. Too many tannins for great pleasure now. Long finish.

Red to the rim. Beautiful port. Too young really but drinkable with pleasure.

Too young, but this is really very good port.

Re: 1994 Graham
Young fruity and aromatic port. A little hollow on the palate, however. Possibly improving with more air. In this company, too young.

At first a rather odd nose and I thought not right. Benefitted from more air however.

Re: 1985 Graham
A rich ruby (not garnet). My notes were getting scrappier by this point but I have written 'a little lifeless compared to the 1983'.

Re: 1983 Graham
As dark as any bottle present on the night. 100% opaque. Rich thick gooey port. As good a bottle of 1983 wine (of any variety) as it is possible to imagine. I gave it an HM.

Re: 1980 Graham
Really deep colour. Grapes on the nose. Big rich palate. Excellent, and still young, port. Got a point from me for WOTN which is impressive in this company.

Re: 1975 Graham
Pale rim. Acrid nose. Increasingly unpleasant to me as the evening went on. I don't think I like 1975 port. Others liked this more.

Markedly paler than the 1966. Hint of vanish on the nose. The fruit's all present and correct, though.

Re: 1966 Graham
A lovely full rich red. Dumb nose. Palate full of life. Arguable still needs time? Tannins still present. Lovely - would have made a spectacular wine as the focus of an evening.

Re: 1963 Graham
Yellow rim. A little bite of something. Oranges and butterscotch. Not what was expected - possible stored a little warm at some point in its life?

Still very much discernible as vintage port. Rich red fruit on the nose and palate and full of life. 2 points from me and a deserved third place on the night.

Pale rim. A little spirity on the nose ,almost a varnish note but not quite. Warm red fruits on the palate. Still a ghost of tannin on the finish. Very fine wine. Two points from me and a deserving winner on the night.

A shade darker than the 1942. A hint of pontefract cake on the nose. Rich fruit. Lovely port. A point from me and a deserved second place on the night.

Fully mature, orange rim. Cherry nose with added tinned strawberry. Lovely fruit washing across your tongue like a tide coming in. Just a hint of heat on the finish.

Thank you to Martin for arranging. Thank you to everyone for providing such interesting wines. Several of them were new to me and happily almost all of those new to me were truly lovely.

May I echo the comments of others on the quality of the write up.
Good bottles of Taylor 48 are the real deal. This bottle sounds like it was the real deal.

1960 opened and decanted at 0720. Smells divine. Decanted nice and clean with heavy sediment mainly left in the bottle.

It’s not my tasting so its co-ordinator will comment - but from my perspective if you just turned up with the Niepoort I for one would be delighted- it’s the one I haven’t ever got my paws on.

What a lovely writeup with the ebullient HH enthusiasm really bubbling through.
Quite some tasting. but as cem says I also would have gone oldest to youngest especially if ll decanted at same time.
