Very sad news indeed, fingers crossed you're able to spend plenty of time with family and friends, and to enjoy some good indulgences. I'll raise a glass to you next time I'm enjoying some good port.

Re: Bring a bottle - Mon 18th Nov 2024
Thanks Martin for organising and setting a theme that was definitely not mostly ignored. It was a fun evening and I am looking forward to a snooze on the way back to Bristol. Fwiw the 2005 S-W Madalena was given about 6 hours in decanter before being re-bottled and stoppered yesterday. I might searc...

Julian, I plan to bring something that is not port but I hope to be at least interesting if not very enjoyable for the group, but I'm unclear if it needs a circle or can just be enjoyed aside from t...

I would be interested in attending and I might actually have a single bottle kicking around. When I'm back in Bristol I'll check and if I do I'll add it here. I thought I had a bottle of Pintas but I cannot find one (or a record of having purchased one) so please drop me to the reserves and I'll ma...

NV Sandeman 20 YO Tawny
It's Sandeman. It's their 20YO Tawny. I'm not telling anyone here anything they don't already know, so this one's for me. Nose is butterscotch and red berries. A touch of oak and vanilla. Sweet and slightly spirity. Palate opens with red fruit - more strawberries and less tart than the nose. Caramel...

NV Don Pablo Tawny
Enjoyed at the top of the Torre da Igreja do Castelo de São Jorge as an included drink. I didn't fully pay attention to this in terms of making notes but I think that's probably what it deserved. Fairly simple as you might expect from a tawny like this, with redcurrants dominating the palate along w...

Re: 2015 Quinta Seara d'Ordens
I went to university with the son of the owners, and he's now very involved in the winemaking (we did oenology together). They're a very decent producer. Their table wines are hit and miss, but their Ports are of a very consistent quality. Not top tier but very decent. That's good to hear. I enjoye...
