Re: Latest buy

6 x Porto Rocha Three Centuries - 500 ml bottles at a VERY good price. Don't hold these for any long period of time. They are still very nice but have been going a bit flat with age in bottle for some time now. And be prepared for the worlds smallest 500ml bottle cork. IIRC, they were bottled about...

Re: I'm going to be having a bad week...

I've just been through the 22 notes on GC77 on the tasting note list, ranging in date from 2004 - 2018. There are 8 positive bottle reports. There are 5 obviously faulty (corked) bottles. The other 9 are somewhat mixed with some thinking they are not right and others thinking they are just having a...

Re: Latest buy

@ Mike J.W. - at a purchase rate of 12 bottles a week, looks like you are building up stocks in advance of retirement... You are very perceptive ws. That is exactly what I'm doing. Retirement is 2 to 3 years off (god willing) and I'm building up my cellar now because after I retire, my purchases wi...

Re: Smith Woodhouse 20 Year Old Tawny Port

I think I may have come across a few bottles of the 20 yo SW tawnies the other day, but I wasn't really paying attention. I'll have to double back and check.

Re: 1994 Graham

Great review!

I would recommend you try the 2007 Graham's. It's young, but a powerhouse. 20 years from now it will be incredible.

Re: Insane auction prices

I guess a combination of a dearth of auctions presently, everybody permanently hunched over their keyboards and the sheer boredom of lockdown is fuelling this bidding behaviour-at least in part. Hopefully, we'll see normailty (and sense) return when people have got other matters to occupy them. Tha...

Re: Insane auction prices

Recently saw an auction for three bottles: 2005 Fonseca LBV (unfiltered); 1988 Fonseca Guimaraens; and 1985 Churchill’s Vintage Port. “Estimate = £200 - £300.” BP (ca. 30%) would then be added... So the auction house hopes to sell that lot for at least £260 (incl. a bidder's premium of 30%)? Good l...

If that's for a single bottle, that's just ridiculous if not criminal.

Re: Niepoort Vintage Port 2017 wins ‘Best Port Wine of the World’

I did here it will be a step up in price on previous vintages but let’s see!! I suppose it was always going to happen. The Bioma / Pisca etc. Ports have been fantastic and not really that expensive for what they are. Is there any difference between the Pisca and the Bioma other than the name change...

Re: White Port

First time posting to this site. I'm usually on FTLOP, but I've enjoyed lurking on here the past year or so as well. This thread caught my eye because tonight I coincidentally opened a S. Leonardo 20 y.o. white. It's like drinking liquid butterscotch with a twist of citrus. Very nice. I had a Dalva ...
