Re: What do you have most of?

Probably the 1995 Smith Woodhouse Madelena I have more 1995 Taylor Vargellas but those are half bottles (I had a case of 24, but have drunk or given away some) These are great QPR Ports so easy to stock up on them. Cannot have enough of the 95 SWm in my book....so solid and usually can get for a son...

Yes--these four rather stood out. And scores were really shared until late in the tasting.

Re: 1980-1995 LBV Tasting in New Jersey, USA

A very fine tasting. All of the Ports were fine. 1995 Smith Woodhouse was the WOTD (Day for Night as this was an afternoon tasting) with 1995 Andresen close behind in 2nd. 1991 Dows was 3rd just edging out the 1992 Smith Woodhouse. Here is the WOTN Chart.

Re: 1980-1995 LBV Tasting in New Jersey, USA

Slight change---taking out the 1992 Warre's and subbing in a 1998 Graham's - this will give us 7 different producers. Julian, if you would be so kind as to make this edit to placements---thank you. Re: 1980-1995 LBV Tasting in New Jersey, USA

Honestly, we are disappointed we are not at least 10 but soon must commit fully with what we have (venue needs a proper count and to allow for the accoutrements). But truly appreciate your sentiments.

Thank you Julian for your time making the amazing placements.

Maybe we should both do this in November and we could compare notes! Sure we would have some overlap in bottles..

Dear Julian; Thank you - I was going to solicit your help for placements and you beat me to it. Your "conditions" are perfectly reasonable. We have our bottles set but not who - there is still room at the table. Here is the Line-Up :660033: Late Bottled Vintage pre-2000 Tasting Lineup 1984...

1980-1995 LBV Tasting in New Jersey, USA

Greetings Port Lovers; Mike W, Matt W, Lucas and I are organizing a tasting and have room for more. Know it is a long shot but still want to offer the invitation. We are going to cap at 12 people and so far have 6.5 commitments: Cost will be about $155 to $180 per person for Port, dinner, corkage fe...

NV Quinta do Vallado Tawny 20YO

Bottled 2023. Wow! Intense and rich--good weight. In the restaurant I could not get the color quite true. Cashew and hazelnut paste with a bit of toffee and caramel on the end....just a hint of orange extract with an interesting spice later. Quite balanced and well structured. Very well received. Th...

2025: Smith Woodhouse from the 1990s

Last night we had a tasting of Smith-Woodhouse from the 1990s: the 1991, 1994 & 1997 VPs and the 1995 SW Madalena (a particular favorite as it is quite affordable and a lovely Port). All bottles decanted about 5 hours before--could have done with a few more hours but decent enough. SW to me is t...

Re: 19 Feb 25 (TBC) - Niche-interest bottlings & old reliables

Hello! I will be in London on a holiday from Feb 19 to 26th and going to the Boot and Flogger is high on the list of places to visit. This event looks full but if anything else is going on or someone would like to share a glass be happy to meet. Actually, that would be marvelous to put a face with a...
