Re: Cavadinha, Tue 28th March 2023, B&F
I have also had the opportunity after finishing all my samples (for which I am exceedingly grateful) to move on to make a direct comparison of thw WC samples against a Croft 2004 LBV. Croft pales in the comparison, being shown to be thin, acidic and harsh. And it’s not a bad Port! One which I have e...

On reflection, I can only conclude that the 1995 was woefully under decanted last night.CPR 1 wrote: ↑21:54 Wed 29 Mar 2023Typically eccentric and the only points given for the 95Alex Bridgeman wrote: ↑21:27 Wed 29 Mar 2023 N I have no idea how my scores compare to those of the attendees.

Re: Latest buy
No-where close to Gerwin’s wonderful birthday present to himself, I bought (and consumed) a bottle of the wonderful Kopke 2003 Colheita last week. My better half also bought me a bottle of Warre 1985 to give to me on my birthday later in the year. Plus I stumbled on bottles of Quinta da Pedra Alta 1...

N I have no idea how my scores compare to those of the attendees. Someone put me out of my misery — please? Typically eccentric and the only points given for the 95 I can only put it down to: (a) the 1 day of additional development the wines had before I tasted them; and (b) my magnificent and infa...

Just in case it’s relevant, my votes are 3 points to 1995 and 1.5 points to each of 1987 and 2002.

I've got a bottle of Fonseca Crusted, bottled in 2001 to drink tomorrow night. I'll open it in the morning, decant it around lunchtime and hope it shows well around dinner time. It has a good chance of doing so. If Fonseca follow the usual pattern of Crusted Port, a decent proportion of it should be...

1989 Cos d’Estournel
Some years ago I bought a case of halves of this wine. I have 7 (out of 24) left.
It’s a lovely, rich mature claret. Full of savoury fruit, with a touch of tannin. It’s going extremely well with meatballs, chips and Heinz baked beans!

I have a free Zoom account, which gives me the ability to host meetings for up to 40 minutes. Given Glenn has a meeting running until 11am / 7pm UK I'll set up a meeting for us to get together at 6.30pm UK. Once Glenn is finished, we can switch over to his account and continue for as long as we want...

2002 Blandy Sercial
Bottled in 2016 in a 50cl bottle. Sercial is normally a little too dry and a little overly acidic for my palate but today I fancied something bold and assertive and this is just hitting the spot. Iodine and sea spray on the nose, but on the palate the wine has a wonderful baked golden raisin fruit a...

Re: Port for sale by retailer
I’ve just come home after a few days in Cornwall. Whilst there, I visited 5 shops selling fortified wines. The first was Ellis Wharton Wines in Indian Queens. A relatively new shop but run by someone who loves their fortified wines. A great choice of Port (Warre 1985 @ £90, Kopke 2003 Colheita @ £42...

Is anyone willing and able to host us on Zoom, and to send out the Zoom invites? I have a paid account and am happy to host, but it might degrade performance to have the host in Seattle and just about everyone else in London. I'm not sure that I have contact information for everyone, though, ...

Yes, this is definitely still on! I dropped out of the Cavadinha tasting partly because I could still see people on the 30th. It's a loose theme. Open something that you'll enjoy while chatting to friends. I shall probably use the evening as an opportunity to finish up some bottles I've got open at ...

I ask as I have an early start and a long day of work (yes, I know I’m retired) the following day.
