Re: Thursday 5th December - Online/Virtual Tasting

Thank you Neil, that was great evening. It would be really good to make this a 6-monthly or quarterly event in the TPF calendar.

Re: Port for sale by retailer

By WhatsApp (you know who you are you irritating people - I was hoping to keep all the orders in one place so I don’t risk losing any), I have had requests for a further 5 boxes. One person has asked if there would be interest in splitting a six-pack since they would, ideally, like to take only 3 b...

Re: Apostrophe crimes

Portuguese doesn't use them either. Well, almost doesn't. There are some niche uses. Perhaps a lot more when spoken than when written? Such as “….de ir”, which is only ever spoken as “…d’ir”. Caused me lots of confusion at first. But no more confusion than the usual Portuguese practice of only sayi...

I’m about to (attempt to) book a return taxi between Saffron Walden and Newport.

I’m booking for me, Mike and Ian. Anyone else need to travel with us?

Re: 19 Feb 25 (TBC) - Niche-interest bottlings & old reliables

Rob - I love the theme, but I need to ask two points of clarification before I start my 12 weeks of detailed planning to decide which bottle to select and bring. Niche interest is defined as "fully mature and <3 tasting notes on the database". (1) Are you happy to leave the attendee to sel...

Re: It's nearly 1st of December!

Portious breakfast is an admirable concept but, alas (i) incompatible with advising on the minutiae of legislation and (ii) I won’t get my refills until 25 December. [I should have requested them as a thanksgiving present, will try to remember/ swing that for next year…] I am quite fortunate in tha...

We've just had an offer from Quinta de Vale da Figueira's and their UK agent for us to be able to buy unbroken (6-bottle) cases of Quinta de Vale da Figueira's 10 YO tawny (the 2022 bottling). These are priced at £150 per 6-pack, which includes duty, VAT and delivery to the UK agent's offices in Vic...

Rozès - Ports fit for a luxury brand

Rozès is a name not seen much in the UK retail or secondary markets, but the quality of the wines makes them worth seeking out. Since 1999, Rozès has been the Port making division of the luxury Champagne group Vranken Pommery. The company owns sizeable amounts of top graded vineyards in the Douro an...

NV Graham Six Grapes Old Vines

Graham Six Grapes, Old Vines edition. A limited release of 6,000 bottles which came on to the market in 2014. Pop and pour. Much more mature appearance than its siblings, a little more brick in the tone and a wide rim. Warm and sweet on the nose, smelling of strawberries sitting in the sun. Smooth e...

I have been incredibly disorganised about inviting an industry guest, so we'll drop the idea for 2024.

Alex M - are you confirming that you are able to attend?
