Re: 19th of August in the UK?

It would be great meeting you and London is perfect for us. I don't have special preferences for a theme. Any suggestions? I should ask my friend as well... I don't have a real large collection of ports and almost all of it is not yet 20 years old. Main houses present are: Fonseca and Taylor, but I ...

And I am quite sure you saw it opened, because you were there when we opened it in the afternoon! But you are excused because of the heat :)

Hi Axel,

That sounds really great! You're really filling the gaps... Now we have almost have the last 40 years of Fonseca complete, what are we still missing and can we complete?
I think Fonseca 1980 and 2007?

Re: Summer offline in The Netherlands - 9 July 2010

Hi Julian,

The placemets tasting forms look great.

Some small comments:
- HermanG attends with a FG84
- No translation to Dutch necessary, please keep it in English!
- Can you reserve 2 places for 'Mystery Ports'

Furthermore I think everything is great!!!

I found Dow VP 2007 in the Gall&Gall of all places!!! (This is the largest chain of winestores, but only selling wines under 10/15€ usually)
They sell it for 60€, but I managed to get a 10% discounts... So thats 54 €...

Re: Summer offline in The Netherlands?

I think Sandra will try some of the Ports as well, after not really drinking for 2,5 years. So she would like to attend as well... In my opinion the theme doesn't have to be a single year! Price seems to be equal to the 10year old tawny. By the way, this 10 year old white doesn't mention the word 'tawny' and of course it doesn't have a tawny colour... Second day still lots of white chocolate, hardly nothing more than that... I suppose they were thinking it was like most "normal&q...

Opened it yesterday. I fully agree it could have some more complexity. I also agree it is much too expansive (I paid 30€)... Hi all, It's been a long time since I wrote on this forum, sorry for that. But at least I have been reading once in a while... Opened the bottle about an hour before leaving. Had some problems with the cork ,it wouldn't come out!!!!

Decanting advice Fonseca 1985

For a wine tasting next weekend I planned to bring a bottle of Fonseca 1985. The tasters are not really that Port minded, so I like this port to perform as good as possible. But I should travel (30 min) with the bottle 5 hours in advance of the taste moment... Under assumption that it is not possibl...
