Re: A glass of port with DrDirk
I am in. I just put two bottles of vintage port near my baggage for London. The rounded mean value of the vintages will apply with the theme: (1960 + 1991) / 2 = 1975,5 rounded eigthies. Yes! Both bottles come from the same producer: one is an emergency bottle, one a recently aquired bottle of a lot...

Re: Friday 22nd March 2013, Taylor vertical, The Bung Hole
At 18:20 I entered for the first time the Bunghole. Following my nose I easily found the table with all the glasses filled with port. First I could not believe my eye: all ports (exept one) in a perfect condition concering the colour of the ports. This will be fun - and it was great fun. Thank you v...

This sounds to be a nice tasting to fly to London even if Wolfgang can not provide me with a place to sleep.

Saturday March 24th in London
Hi all, I will be in London on Saturday March 24th. Is there anyone who wants to join in tasting, drinking and enjoying some port even if it is a Saturday? I suggest somewhere in the city. @Rob: I think Henley-on-Thames is not possible for me, because it will take some time to get there and back wit...

Re: Tue 03 Jan 2012, Horizontal of 1977s, The Crusting Pipe
A very nice evening in The Crusting Pipe with excellent 1977s vintage ports. It was the perfect time to open some of these bottles to see how far the developement is. Some bottles need more time (e.g. Niepoort, Taylor) and other are now very drinkable and start to fade after some hours in the glass ...

Hi,
this sounds like a fantastic idea to fly to London again for some port tasting in 2012. I would be very happy if I could join this tasting.

I was wondering if his por was past its prime time. Brownish, nose nothing to concentrate on, an unbalanced body and no aftertaste

a very decent bottle of Grahams 85, easily drunk between all these Malvedos. You need a lot of water to drink this one, but it makes fun.

This is a port juice: much too young. A fantastic port which needs some more time to develop all its finesse. Very, very good.

extremly dense body, long, but at the moment a little bit closed, but I think this will be a very good port in some time.

the port with the lowest points: it was very disappointing and totally inhomogenous. I do not think, this will be good port in some years.
