Re: One quiz at a time

Just blame me, I have a broad back :) As I want to go to bed anyway (I'm one time zone ahead of the UK), I can live with a little delay. I already have a question and would be ready to go if permitted to do so. By the way, I explained the owls and nightingale proverb in the original thread: http://w...

Re: 2003 Churchill LBV (unfiltered)

Since LGTrotter wanted to know the original version, (http://www.theportforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2726&p=63709#p63709) here it is: "Dem einen sin Uhl, ist dem andern sin Nachtigall." (It's in the local dialect, for the standard German version you would have to substitute "...

NV Churchill Crusted 2004

Quite a lot of sediment, D+0h: smells of marzipan (almonds) and a little bit of liquorice, D +3h: cherry-red colour, smells strongly of tar and liquorice, very smooth in the mouth, tastes of sour cherry, tar, a little bit of liquorice and a little bit of pepper, quite dry (more dry than the LBV 2003...

2003 Churchill LBV (unfiltered)

A lot of sediment, D 0h: smells of red currant, a little bit of raspberry and pepper, a lovely nose D +3h: crimson colour, does not smell fruity any more, smells more ethereous: menthol or eucalyptus, the nose somehow reminds me of young ports by Taylor's, the taste is a bit like jam, but it's not t...

Re: One quiz at a time

Well, if my old mathematics teacher could know this. I was really bad at mathematics. I always had a kind of gentleman's agreement with her: I'm always present and smiling at her, for this I would get a D

PS: It seems that I'm still bad at mathematics.

Re: One quiz at a time

After the new arrangement I still think the pattern is the same.
Now the two forms are:
1st line, 1st from left
5th line, 2nd from left

Re: One quiz at a time

the two forms are:
1st line, 1st left
3rd line, 3rd from right
both forms do only have one line and simply white space around them
(I hope you understand me, I couldn't even explain it any better in my mother tongue)

Port and Marketing: "Best Vintage ever"

PhilW really posted an interesting piece of information with his "Cambridge "swap" post. This line in the press article really caught my eye: "The Port vintage for 2011 was praised so highly that many College cellars wanted to invest in it" http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Bu...

Re: 2008 Delaforce LBV

the bottle is now open for a day, the wine really has improved, it's more smooth now and the fruit (strawberry) is not so dominant any more and more balanced, it has a mid-length finish now, I really should have decanted the LBV for two hours yesterday, I would rate it with 85 P. now, the next time ...

Churchill Estates Reserva 2009

D+ 0h: smells of blackberry and a little bit of raspberry, no deposit (the Churchill's homepage states that this wine is "fined and lightly filtered before bottling"). D +3h: smells of blackberry and a little bit of eucalyptus, the colour is as dark as ink, a strong body, but quite smooth ...

Re: Label bias

I would like to add a new dimension to the "Label bias" discussion: vintage. You talked about producers, but besides the producer the label states the vintage year. I admit that vintage does not matter in a horizontal tasting, but it might matter when judging a wine in a vertical or decidi...
