I've had a heads-up that there may be a couple of more people who may not be able to make the tasting on Monday. If this turns out to be the case, I can't in all good conscience, take their money for the Nacional knowing that they will not be with us. Instead, I propose that we keep the Nacional for...

Although I have little personal interest in buying larger format bottles (except for a Nebuchadnezzar of 1896 we know of in London), I do think that the rule is eccentric in the extreme. I would be willing to support a campaign to change such a rule just on the principles of supporting free trade. A...

I have a slight problem now in that I have an architect coming to visit the house (to help design - amongst other things - my wine cellar!) on either the Wednesday or the Thursday. I won't know which until early next week. However, I am still committed to meet up on one of the two nights - I just do...

It would not be inaccurate to describe me as potentially evidencing signs of demonstrable anticipation...but stiff upper lips chaps. We are British you know.

If I remember correctly, 1995 is one of Tom's Tips for best recent undeclared vintage.

I'm certainly enjoying making a debt in the world's supply of 1995 Croft's Roeda!

That is a perfectly respectable suggestion. I will see what fuel the Crusting Pipe uses in its kitchen and how they would feel about us using tongs.

Andy, You might be right. I wouldn't normally expect a port to show so differently at 12 hours compared to 36 hours. I came back to the decanter with the thought in my mind of "I'll finish this off before I open another bottle. It's not great but it's not worth wasting." What I found was s...

We can always do a semi-blind tasting - just wrap your bottle in foil before serving.

I can't believe the difference another 24 hours in the decanter has made to this port. Now decanted for 36 hours, it has blossomed and is much better integrated and more pleasurable than this time last night. Perhaps slightly darker than last night, but not subtantially so, this port now smells of s...

I don't think there's a wireless connection available in the Crusting Pipe, but there is a weak mobile connection if you have a 3G card rather than a WiFi card.

But I may be wrong, I don't think I've ever actually tried to connect wirelessly from the tunnel.

Tsunami should suggest the theme since he is travelling to London and is organising the offline. But, if I may offer a humbe suggestion, I would suggest that we keep this as an extremely informal offline and make it "Bring (or buy) a bottle of port" for the purpose of the offline is to mee...

Much as I would like to acquire 10 bottles of 1963 Nacional, I don't think that I will be leaving a bid.

I can easily do either (but not both) of the 30th or 31st. The Wednesday is probably a slight preference, but by no means a strong preference. And if no-one else has the stamina for an offline during the week then I'm sure I could rustle up a few other people who are not on TPF to join in - we just ...

This bottle was actually a little disappointing in the end (although there is still a little left for tonight). Drunk in earnest after about 12 - 14 hours in the decanter, this is my impression: Deep red colour, not much change since decanting. Nose more integrated, fresh and floral with that lovely...

1977 Gould Campbell

I decided that after an horrific journey home to Heathrow from Munich on Thursday that I should cheer myself up with a decent bottle of vintage port from the cellar. This bottle was selected and stood up last night for about 12 hours before being decanted. The bottle is wine society stock, sold thro...

Alan, Part of the reason that I posted this question was that I don't have a clue what the letters FGP stand for, although I do know what the label said on the bottle - hence I was asking for (and know) the shipper. I don't know what the connection is between the letters FGP and the shipper's name, ...
