Re: 1925 Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman Vargellas port
You started this thread by asking for information. You then said you recently wrote TFP asking for information. You never mentioned to anyone until today that you had written TFP 13 years ago and received a reply that seems to be sufficient. It would have been real helpful to mention that upfront. I...

14 VP from 1966 and 1 Colheita. This should be an epic tasting. Enjoy, everyone.

Annual college get together at the beach.
Had a tasting over the weekend with my college buddies down at the shore. The first night I opened the following 40 y.o. TWAIOA: Quinta do Noval Quinta do Mourao San Leonardo Quevedo Andresen Quinta da Romaneira Quinta Vale D. Maria For the second night I opened all 1963 VP: Dow Fonseca Croft Taylor...

Re: 1994 Graham Single Harvest Tawny
Phil,
Are you saying the already bottled version should be very interesting with more age or are you referring to the '94 that's still in barrel to be bottled at a later date?

Re: Advice please
I'm with Phil, the '66 Fonseca is a truly special port when the bottle is in good condition. It's actually the best VP that I've had to date. As far as the 1970 VP, I've had the Fonseca and the Dow and the Fonseca is much better than the Dow IMHO. I have not tried the '70 Noval. Happy hunting when y...

Re: Advice please
You might be able to buy 1982 from Ramos Pinto, but I don’t remember anything older. You can also buy from Dick’s Bar to take home, but be very careful if you buy anything older than the 1990s from Dick’s Bar as these bottles are fairly priced (ie. relatively cheap) but are fairly priced to reflect...

I would say that although the seal looks like it's sliced open, on one side, the side with the tax stamp looks like it is fully intact. To me that would say that the bottle has not been opened and refilled because the logistics of doing so would necessitate the tax stamp being cut open as well.

Re: Whitwham's Bottler.
Thanks again everyone for your comments. Phil, I just held a flashlight / torch up to the body of the bottle and it showed a light, bright cherry red. Lots of sediment. Alex, I wish the capsule (or else a small label) had said it was recorked so I knew for sure. God willing, I'll still be around in ...

There you go Phil. The bottle is brown and the fill level is about 1/3rd up the neck.

Whitwham's Bottler.
I was in my cellar and looking over a few of my older bottles to ensure they were in good shape. I was looking at my lone bottle of 1945 Croft VP. when I realized the gold and black capsule said Whitwham's on it. The fill level is good, the capsule is in good condition, but the front label is ragged...

So much for reviewing my posts before I submit them. Re: Port for sale by retailer
Mike, I agree. It’s a genuinely remarkable wine. I notice from FTLOP that in a recent large scale blind tasting the Vesuvio came top of the 1994s which mirrors our experiences this side of the pond. I had a '94 Vesuvio about 2 years ago at a tasting and it was closed down. The bottle was in perfect...

You can never have too much of the '92 Taylor. I think it's better than the '94 Taylor.winesecretary wrote: ↑17:26 Mon 05 Jun 2023 The Taylor 1992 is market (150/bt duty paid) but if I didn’t already have a fair bit I might be tempted.
The price of the Noval is about 10 x out.

What a great pic! Although '83 isn't a top notch vintage, I'm sure there are going to be some very good Ports drunk tonight. My money is on the Gould Campbell and Offley Boa Vista showing well. And of course, the Graham's. Enjoy!

Re: 1994s, Tue 26 Mar 2024
On the extreme off-chance that I can fly to London for this (I'm probably going to be in London around June 8-9 of 2024, so twice in one year might be pushing it), please put me on the reserve list. I have many of the '94's already listed but I also have a Burmester and a Quinta Do Crasto, which are...
