Who are you and what have you done with Derek??DRT wrote:at 30 hours from decanting
There is no way that a half bottle of 1985 Graham's Vintage Port would have lasted 30 hours in the presence of the Derek that we know.

I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that point six has been enthusiastically confirmed by multiple sources. The bad news is that I am unable to make any additional stains from this bottle.

Re: Wanted: high-resolution picture of a port stain
I have created two stains using the dregs of the bottle, but to me both appear to be rather light in color. I'll let them dry and hopefully they'll darken up enough to be useful. Since I used the dregs, there are signs of fine sediment in the stains. If that is not acceptable, I can easily create mo...

I've found that the scanner is actually a better choice... I suppose it would depend on the precise need that Julian has for the image, but in most cases I suspect you are correct. I'll see if I can get my wife to take the Port stain I create in to her office and scan it so that Julian has both opt...

In that case, I have a suitable bottle that I will open for a poker party tomorrow (Saturday) night. I believe that it will fit all other requirements with the only potential problem being color. Which, of course, I will not be able to determine for sure until I decant. More anon.

•Circular or part-circular, approx 5cm to 6cm radius, stain caused by a wine glass. That's a rather large circle for a glass. Without actually measuring, I would guess that the diameter of the base of my Riedels is roughly 6 cm. High-quality high-resolution image, not abused by image manipulation. ...

If you comply with Rule 4 and Rule 6 with a 25 cl capacity, and at the same time with Rule 1 or Rule 2 and with Rule 5 , it means you are just using around 62% of all the capacity of your stomach, which is 4 liters. You are being inefficient... So you will hardly comply with Rule 3 ... I sug...

Orienteering, run, karate? (That's hiking with a map and compass, in case that's not what it is called in the UK.) In the UK "Orienteering" means "trying to find your way to bed after an off-line" Isn't that what spouses are for? I brought mine to NYC for just that purpose...

Glen, of course you must be a lucky man. I am not on this sunny side  . So I do buy LBVs to let them age some years. And I have to admit: I do like them :D . So: Mea culpa :) . Oh, I didn't mean to imply that I don't like them! Just that I don't really need to buy and hold them since a) my Po...

I was completely astonished when I rated the 2003 Taylor filtered LBV as the best of the ports on show... The 2003 Taylor LBV (filtered) is probably my favorite LBV right now. I have plenty of Vintage Port for aging... I don't need unfiltered LBVs for short term aging to fill in the gaps. What the ...

I dont have the discipline that many of you do. Opened port has a short life in my house. That usually helps to keep me from opening the bott...

Well that depends. Where they useless shrubbery, or could they be rationalized as honorary meat? (I.e. green onions or other greenery used in the preparation of delicious meat dishes.) Regardless, I believe a GC80 will at least serve to provide you a temporary stay. Additional medication may be requ...
