Re: Crazy 8's: London, April 30th 2014

Gentlemen, I'm struggling to join you tomorrow night on account of this confounded Tube strike.I need to get from Paddington to TBH and then on to Waterloo at the conclusion, but the service currently does not seem conducive to this. What is frusrating is that had this tasting been on Thursday I'd h...

Re: Crazy 8's: London, April 30th 2014

As we've determined to go 'open' on this I'm going to chance bringing a QdN58-but given I have some reservations about the bottle, I may bring a G85 as back-up in addition.

Re: Tue 22 Apr 2014, The Bung Hole: A Flight of 1966

Hugely enjoyable evening-so much so I stayed on a little too long meaning an expensive taxi ride home! The 66 is clearly still holding up well with barely a duffer in sight and though the 70 may now be superior I'm not sure there's too much in it. Phil has suggested a similar 'small' 70 horizontal w...

The F66 decanted at 7.00am today-thought that the cork would come out intact (which would be a first) but in two parts so not too bad (have brought the parts).

Re: Small 1966 Horizontal on 22 of April

Given how this tasting has mushroomed perhaps the word 'small' should be dropped from the title of this thread! Oh, and good spot Wolfgang, yes indeed,I did mean F66 ! Not to impact placemats but I'll probably bring that bottle of Sousa 66 colheita (bottled in 92) as well (to make'up for the fact th...

Looking at the threads JDAW linked to, a comparative bottler tasting never took place-is such a tasting now irretrievable?

UK v Oporto bottling

Does anyone have any comments or views about the comparative merits of (on 1970 and before) Uk v Oporto bottling or is it simply a question of how the bottle has been stored? I've acquired quite a few UK bottlings over the last year (the likes of Grants of St James, Charles Kinloch etc) and assuming...

Re: Cellar #4

Tom, congrats and I see you have the freehold, which is good in my book as I'm no particular fan of Greene King. What is equally as impressive is that this is cellar no. 4-oh to have more than a pantry in which to store my Port!

Please count me in if there's a space. Almost assuredly too young but in the interests of research.... Less in favour of a walk around approach and limiting to top 14-16 doesn't seem unreasonable.

Re: Quinta do Vesuvio 2011 in Tappit Hen

Chapeau to Alex with regards to his experiment. I confess to not having ever seen a Tappit Hen bottle in the flesh although came close to securing a W77 in this format at auction last last year. Maybe JDAW can speak to the powers that be to ensure more releases in this format!

Re: Where best to sell 1966 Port please?

This post is quite interesting as I bought a Souza 66 'Vintage Port' at auction the other day only of course to find out after I received it that it was indeed a colheita (bottled in 92). I have subsequently pointed out the auction house's misdirection to them (not heard back) but that's the rub whe...

Agree with Daniel, it was as if a VP label had been put on a bottle of 30 or 40yr tawny. Disappointing. as this seems to be a difficult VP to get hold of and so I don't know when I'll have the opportunity to drink again.
