No - but close in a similar way to the last closeness.
Hmm... then I'm guessing the last "close" referred to either Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or the Wizard of Oz. Probably the former.

Personally I am thinking Grahams, Vesuvio and Noval That's about where I am now, too, but in the opposite order. Possibly with an additional VVV added as an investment (in the "this'll get me into a tasting in the future" sense, not the "I'll sell this at a profit later" sense)....

Re: Port for sale by retailer

I buy basic drinking Pinot and CS at ≈$20 a bottle from WTSO. Generally good value I find. Never bought port from them though. I buy a lot of red wine from them, typically in the $12 to $20 range. On occasion I've gone as high as $45 - the 2006 Quinta do Crasto Old Vines Reserva, for example. I als...

Coming up for sale on winestilsoldout.com: Taylor Fladgate Vargellas 2005. price $48. Edit: What a joke. The "Best web price yesterday" is listed as $60. I am RIGHT NOW looking at someone else selling it for $33. Edit: And... its gone. Was up for maybe 5 mins. Some people buy anything jus...

I didn't read the whole thread, but having worked in a position that had similar professional conduct requirements I think that the apology was both appropriate and necessary. Re: Star Trek

I finally saw this movie, and while I really liked the movie on its own, I'm not sure I like where it leaves the franchise. Star Trek didn't need a reboot. The original canon was great the way it was. Did it need some younger actors? Yes. Did it need a fresh perspective? Yes. Did it need to be moved...

Yeah, that looks like Panascal to me too, especially the first picture. The 2nd picture pretty much guarantees that's not the case though.

You could always post yourself to JDAW in a big yellow box and then post yourself back home after the offline

Yes, I believe so. It is known as Terra Bella in the US and Terra Prima elsewhere. (Or something like that.)

NV Fonseca Terra Prima

NV Fonseca Terra Bella Reserve Terra Bella is a fully organic Port, and even has an EU Eco-Cert to prove it. $21.99 at my local grocery store, which doesn't typically have the best prices. I'd guess $19.99 would be a more normal price at a wine store. It's a very dark red in the glass, with just en...

Re: Latest buy

I just acquired a bottle of Fonseca Terra Bella, their new organic certified Ruby Reserve. I'll be opening it this weekend to see what it's like! I've had one other organic Port that I know of - the Rol Roi Reserva. My memory is that it was fruitier and more vibrant than a normal Reserve, and I hope...

Re: Hello Everybody!

Isn't ST Maarten close to the Caymans? In America, 100 years is a long time. In Europe, 100 miles is a long ways. So no. They are both in the Caribbean, but they are over 1000 miles apart (probably closer to 1200). Grand Cayman is south of the western half of Cuba. Sint Maarten is east of the Briti...

Re: 1952 Dalva White Colheita

I'd say no, decanting is not necessary.

I've never had my own bottle of it, but like Jacob had it at Vinologia. My impression from it there is that an hour's decant will help it loosen up out of the bottle, but anything beyond that probably won't have much of an effect.

Having shared that bottle with you, it would not surprise me if it was corked. TCA can be like that sometimes, where there is no "off" smell or taste but utterly nothing comes to the fore. Interesting... well I still have a little bit of that bottle, so I'll give it another shot and conce...

Sounds like a fun tasting! I've never seen any of the Quinta de Santa Eufémia Ports... the only ones I've seen are the other half, Casa de Santa Eufémia. Did someone at Vinologia tell you that the Very Old Special Reserve was a 1972 Colheita? I've been told that it is a 1973, and I have a bottle of ...

I probably won't be buying now because the US prices are insane, but there are a couple that sound like they might be interesting. If the US supply chain figures out that they're being idiots and drops their prices to something reasonable, then I'll probably buy a few. I'd like to have 2 bottles eac...
