Current draft of the placemats added to the first post.

winesecretary wrote: 22:15 Sat 16 Mar 2024My sincere apologies, but I am now no longer going to be able to come to this tasting. I am deluged with work.
I have W94, albeit with no front label, and will bring.

For the food order, please select from the B&F dining menu.

Re: Tue 9th Apr 2024, B&F, Port not frequently seen

There is to be a decanting experiment on Thursday 11th April. If people prefer that there be only one event that week (but why?), then this one will be postponed. Pls express preferences.

Re: Thursday 11th April - Decanting Experiment plus some drinkers

Hell yes.

I’m happy for there to be two events in this week. If others much prefer that there be only one, then the event on Tuesday 9th April will be postponed.

Re: Tue 9th Apr 2024, B&F, Port not frequently seen

April is looking rather dry.

Alas I can’t make the week of Mon 15th, and B&F is Tue 23rd April (corrected following AHB grumble). Can a quorum make Tuesday 9th April 2024? (Which, alas has the disadvantage of being in half term.)

Simple theme: sighted, Port not frequently seen.

Rs90 LBV . Oh dear. Or, in the delightful modern parlance as used by my youngest, oh my days! Orange, 10% opaque. Nose of light varnish. If it is not framed as a red port, but instead as a sauternes-sherry mix, it could be drunk with pleasure. It was possible to pretend that it was a very very ligh...

Re: 1982 Warre LBV (unfiltered)

W82 LBV. Dark dark red, 80% opaque — again, an excellent colour for a VP of its age. Big, a hint of Tayloresque roughness, drier than the other Warres, and brighter. The brightness also manifested itself as being slightly lighter. I gave it third place; the people agreed with me; justice was done.

Re: 1981 Warre LBV

W81 LBV. Dark dark red, 60% opaque — an excellent colour for a VP of its age. Wonderful, so soft, so very long, VP-grade red-fruited Port that could be Dow 1970. I gave it first; it came first-equal; justice was almost done — it was the best at the table.
