WFW Article

The current issue of The World of Fine Wine (66 / 2019 Q4) includes an interesting article/tasting of Vintage Ports 1994-2016, by Richard Mayson, Simon Field MW and Andrew Jefford.

Worth a read.

Apparently the December 2020 issue will include a follow-up article for 1963-1992.

Warre's Sesquarcentennial Tasting - Weds 6th Oct 2021 (date confirmed)

To celebrate Warre's 350th anniversary, I thought it would be appropriate to organise a vertical tasting. Given the potentially large number of bottles available I suggest this is initially limited to 2000 and earlier. Venue - Red Room, Boot & Flogger Attendees & confirmed bottles: NAC - 196...

Re: 2020 - A 1970 horizontal

My planned dinner with Alex this evening has had to be postponed. As such, I suggest that we discount 67 Pall Mall as a potential venue for the 70 tasting. Think it might work for other events, but not this one as I suspect the overhead costs would have been prohibitive.

Re: RE: Re: Ideas for tastings

I believe this year is Warre's 350th anniversary. It would seem a good year to do a Warre vertical - although we might struggle to make it a full vertical with every vintage going back to 1670. We could make our lives easier by only going back to 1729 when the company became named "Warre"...

Re: 2020 - A 1970 horizontal

I'm still visiting 67 Pall Mall with Alex this week, but having discussed further with Mike, I suspect we're going to come to a conclusion that B&F is a better option. I'm still keen to do the big 70 tasting and happy to assist in organising. However, might well do some form of additional 70-the...

Re: 2020 - A 1970 horizontal

Some thoughts on the thoughts above. This is the sort of leadership that we like to see. We need an "Everyone else take one step backwards" emoticon  A suggestion for the tiers: I think it would be interesting to include Dow Bomfim and Taylor Vargellas in Tier 1 to allow them to be t...
