Re: NYC tasting with Quevedo Port Wine 7/21/2009
We had a great time with the folks of the TPF in NYC. As a producer, I'm really glad to see the passion for Port Wine all these guys showed.
I'll probably go to the Netherlands some day in the first weeks of November. I hope I can meet there some more Port enthusiasts!

Re: Hello from Oscar
Hi Oscar, good to have you here! If all goes well, LadyR and I will be in the Douro somewhere end of November. We'd love to meet you while we are there. Hi Ronald, I'll probably be in the Douro at that time. Please book in your agenda a visit to our winery so you can taste some of our Ports. I hope...

Re: Out of Curiosity
Hi Oscar, I'm interested in your vintage 2007. What are your current shipping prices to the Netherlands or Belgium for one case? Who will provide you pricing from DHL? (I work for DHL so can try to help) rgrds, Dries Dries, I'll send you a list of our prices, and if anyone is interested in knowing ...

Re: How does this work? Bottling VP's.
Tom, you are right about the possibility to bottle in UK, so no selo would be used. What you think about the letteing of the brand "Offely" and the absence of logo in the label? On the other hand, we have the original logo and lettering of "Offley" in the cap. Maybe the wine is a...

Re: Pinhao weather
I don't know Tom, but I would say they are not. There are very few weather stations in the Douro and these reports are probably the kind of information you don't want to share with your neighbors!!!uncle tom wrote:Do you know if reports from that station are available online?

Re: How does this work? Bottling VP's.
This is very weird.. I don't think I can help. But a Vintage Port bottled 7 years after the harvest, when the legislation imposes a maximum of 2 years, without selo from the IVP?!? As far as I know, Vintages from 1958 were not an exception regarding bottling, all I have seen were bottled in 1960. Ma...

Re: Pinhao weather
Tom,
It seems the Pinhao shown in this report is not the same we are looking for. This Pinhao is in the district of Santarém while the Pinhao in the Douro belongs to Vila Real.

No Alex, the king-market of Port Wine is not easy to impress! It is a big challenge, and I think we will reach other markets first than UK. But eventually we will do!AHB wrote:Oscar - are you exporting your Rose port to the UK at the moment?

Long may the website continue (but will we ever be able to order wine direct from it...? ) Alex Yes, you do Alex! We don't mention it on our blog but due to some interest of our readers, we started shipping our wines to private clients in any European country. I'll send you the catalogue. We...

Re: Out of Curiosity
Your point is very interesting. The internet has reduced dramatically the distance between the winery and the consumer, specially with those like you that follow, discuss and want to get as much information as possible about a certain passion, in this case Port. Blogs, forums, generally speaking win...

Re: The Laws of Port Consumption
If you comply with Rule 4 and Rule 6 with a 25 cl capacity, and at the same time with Rule 1 or Rule 2 and with Rule 5 , it means you are just using around 62% of all the capacity of your stomach, which is 4 liters. You are being inefficient... So you will hardly comply with Rule 3 ... I sugg...

From what I have seen and heard, oidium is currently receiving some attention. During the last weeks the weather alternated between rainy days and hot afternoons. The humidity has been higher this year than in other years and we have some oidium in our vines in zones lacking air circulation. Mildew ...

Re: What is your favourite 2007?
Mine is probably the Burmester. Very floral and with a good complexity on the palate. The tannins are a little bit easy which is good for now but can threat its ageing. I also loved the freshness and fruity flavor of the Vesuvio with a very lingering finish.
