I concur. I cracked a half to share with family on Christmas Day and it's absolutely gorgeous in its relative youth.winesecretary wrote:I take the point about the unpleasant contrast, but those halves of Warre 2000 are absolutely lush. I am on half 39 of 48. It is disastrously drinkable.

2001 Dow Quinta Senhora da Ribeira
One of two bottles of port brought home to share with my dad over Christmas. He's not a big drinker these days (and I knew I would want to partake in beers and wine) so this was planned to last half a week in the decanter for after-dinner drinks. PnP Decanted for the following day, but tasted immedi...

This has been opened and after giving it a generous amount of time to air (there's no available decanter because I forgot to bring one or two with my and I'm with my parents) and using an aerator, this is absolutely fantastic! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20231224/96bcd2c6c275da2749e749874c4b463...

Just cracked a bottle of Dow Quinta Senhora da Ribeira 2001 to enjoy over the next few days at my parents' place in the run up to Christmas. Even just post-decant it's rather enjoyable and open!

Suffering from a bad case of exploding cork syndrome (still). 90% opaque. Red rim. Dumb nose. A bit of rubber. Some fruit. Hot finish. This has either shut down super- hard or this bottle ain’t right. Probably the latter. I’m off to open something else. I will give it another chance tomorrow but if...

Re: Churchill's Port Club
I am absolutely not complaining about the selection! But I just wonder how sustainable it is? £80 is about €91. The retail prices are €24 for the 75cl tawny and €32 for the Crusted (so €56 in total). Whilst they don’t sell the 1992 QdAA; the 2003 QdG is €75 and the 1997 VP is €110. It just feels li...

Interesting, I have to say that's something of a surprise to hear!Alex Bridgeman wrote:The implication of the answer I received is that there will be no SQVPs from TFP for the 2021 vintage.
Demand for tawny Port is growing rapidly - that juice has to come from somewhere!

Re: 2021 Declarations
Given the Fladgate Partnership’s record of announcing vintage decisions on 23rd April, has anyone seen anything? Should we take silence to mean an absence of a declaration? I’ve had it confirmed that there are no declarations from the Fladgate Partnership for the 2021 vintage. Any suggestions of SQ...

Re: 2021 Declarations
Graham's have posted on Twitter that they have declared a 2021 Stone Terraces, as predicted by Alex. They say they will bottle 4,800 75cl bottles and 280 tappit hens (225cl). I was intrigued to see that they've only declared the Stone Terraces but no mention of a regular Graham VP. It'll be interes...

Stewed fruit on the nose. Nice but nothing more on the palate. A little acidity, a little fruit. Not very impressive.

A relatively quiet nose is deceptive. Black cherries, loads of spice and tannic grip. Dark dark chocolate orange. Eucalyptus here too. This is rather good.

Spicy cherries on the nose. Very spicy and tannic on the palate but with plenty of cherry fruit to carry it. Very young. Intriguing.

Gorgeous nose - full fruit with minerality and chocolate. Milk chocolate, cherries and eucalyptus and a touch of spice. Tannic. Medium acidity. Might smell better than it tastes but it is still a rather enjoyable.

Closed nose. A touch spicy. Lots of tannic grip which is keeping this in restraint. Some sweet red fruit being held in check. Could be brilliant but it seems to me that this is a long way from its peak.

Chocolate and dark cherries on the nose. Slightly muted on the palate but that might be because it's a touch cold - I'll come back to this later.
Coming back to it, this is a very enjoyable wine - strawberries and chocolate. Tannic grip.
