Re: shipping info / release dates?

A thought: would it be helpful to have a thread containing links to and recommendations of good wine merchants? I think it would be bad to let it turn into a negative topic of bashing those who people don't like, but a list of helpful and reliable merchants might be useful. I'd find such a list of ...

Re: shipping info / release dates?

i'd ask what you are trying to do, or looking to gain by knowing the exact date of the shipment. Just trying to buy port! But I'm intrigued that now this has got a sort of 'need to know basis' ring about it.. it makes it more exciting and mysterious! Being out of London I sometimes find it hard to ...

Mixed tasting, Weingalerie, Berlin, 23 Nov 2012

Apologies for the time-lag between the date of this tasting and the date of this posting. Life intervened, in many interesting and unexpected ways. I thought it was probably still interesting enough to post. The notes are nowhere near as comprehensive as those by other great minds at :tpf: - for ins...

Re: shipping info / release dates?

Yes in part.. Thanks. Is there any calendar of shipments after the 23rd Apr or is it just a case of keeping an ear to the ground?

shipping info / release dates?

Hello It occurred to me that it would be useful to know when vintages are shipping to dealers in the UK, and to know in advance when planned releases are taking place.. Is this information collated in any one place, at least for the bigger growers / shippers? Or might the experts gathered together a...

Re: 1983-1985 Double Horizontal on Tuesday 2 April 2013

unlikely to be able to bring anything that would be good drinking No problem. People will bring what’s most convenient, and there will be a (modest) financial rebalancing. Assume that we have about ≈1½ bottles of port per head, at an average of ≈£35-£40 each, and that you’ll have to pay for your fo...

Shippers non-V.A.tastic Beg pardon? *scratches head* 1985 has something of a reputation for suffering from volatile acidity. Thanks, and pardon my ignorance.. I did check the list of forum abbreviations - one to add? I will be travelling back from Germany so unlikely to be able to bring anything th...

JDAW, I see your placemat software licence is 'unported'. Surely this is an oversight..?

Re: 1983-1985 Double Horizontal

• Please, what should we call you? And if it is ‟djewesbury”, how is the opening syllable pronounced? Ah yes. My cover is to be blown. Much as I would like to tell you that djewesbury is a very common Armenian name, and that it rhymes with 'risotto', the truth is that it simply comprises my initia...

Re: What else do VP drinkers put in their cellar?

This is fascinating stuff! I'm now curious to know to what extent you all buy port primarily to drink, or as an investment... I suppose, if I'm lucky, I have about 10,000 days left, which probably makes me think there's only so many bottles of port it's worth me buying (and I'm not even close to a f...

Re: 1983-1985 Double Horizontal

Further to the above, if this date (2nd April) were to prove convenient for a number of people and we were to confirm it, I might book flights. I'll be in Berlin until the 1st, and would otherwise fly back to Ireland, but if the date suits I'll gladly have a couple of days in London...

What else do VP drinkers put in their cellar?

Just an idle question. I wondered what other VP drinkers buy for their cellars.. Do you find that port consumes all your passions, or is it just a corner of your wine collection? I find that I don't baulk at paying for bottles of port but would think twice about paying the same for (say) red wine. P...

Greetings from a London port drinker in Belfast..

Hello all I'm a recent convert to the wonders and mysteries of port, especially VP, and a Londoner living in Belfast for nearly 20 years. I've found that a decent selection of VP is fairly hard to come by in Ireland in general.. although I've noticed that Berry Bros will deliver anywhere in Ireland ...

Re: Taylor Vertical - Friday, 22 March 2013

Hi everyone
New on the forum so only saw this. Do you have a waiting list for this event...? Is it extremely long? Or is it just booked out, full stop? I'm based in Belfast but would happily travel for something such as this.. Anyway if you have a waiting list please put down Daniel +1!
Thanks
