Re: On the hunt for a 93!

I, respectfully, disagree with Chris here. Burgundy prices are entirely insane. Ditto claret. I know that, and can understand why, some of the Port shippers look wistfully over to France or the States but there is not particular reason why prices should be so high. And, as you say, drinking first r...

Sarah says “there’s a lovely honey component: sweet without being sugary”

I have this right at 89/90 points. Must I own this wine?!

Unclear. Would I be upset owning this wine? Tosh

Re: On the hunt for a 93!

I understand your point of "a product is worth what someone is willing to pay for it", but I suppose I was never one to subscribe to that particular 'philosophy' (even though it's clearly a real thing). I own no VPs from my birth year, as it's a terrible, terrible year. Ideally I'd own a ...

1997 Taylor: current status

The most recent Tn is “ 21:23 Thu 04 Jan 2018 From the 2017 Berry Brothers Port Walk. Bought from the Oxford & Cambridge club's wine list @ £62 per bottle. Round and figgy with a core of dry charcoal tannins. Just moving into its drinking window and would benefit from a much longer decant. 88/10...

1 x Armagnac 76
1 x Yamazaki Distillery Reserve

Now all I have to do is offload the Whisky and the Armagnac and have three free bottles of Port😊
Who produced the Armagnac? What would you want for both?

Reflecting on points, I’ve maintained basically forever that 80 is will put in mouth and 90 is must own

90 to 92 always hard to distinguish.

I’ve scored four or so wines in a life of luxuriant stupor 95 and one experience I gave 💯

I've drunk all mine. Sounds like you are having more fun than we are at the moment, though.” I share this sentiment but ...

1995 Croft Roeda

I record little Thinking woman’s port. Subtle. Intriguing. Coaxing. Alluring . Brown side of red, coated in sugar crystals. I haven’t been a huge 1995 port enthusiast (1996 ok, interesting, !) Need to find more. This will replace my sandeman 1977 as an early October port, and a suspect of sov cheape...

Cellartracker.com is my goto source for up to date drinking windows, which for burgundy is the most important aspect within your control.

For champagne it’s more what’s available, and I think basically everything is well bought

Das Unheimliche, "the opposite of what is familiar"

is a Freudian concept of an instance where something can be both familiar yet alien at the same time, resulting in a feeling of it being uncomfortably strange.
I have been missing this.
