A bottle identified to be leaking was stored upright for 2 months prior to consumption this weekend. Level was top shoulder. Cork extracted in one piece and a tablespoons worth of sediment remained post decant. No notes taken on decant. D+5 Smells like a herb garden with a lot of eucalyptus. Quite o...

Dienhard bottling. Purchased from a family friend for a fair price from a stash that had been in storage for 40 years. Cork crumbled on removal. Initial taste, strong, phenol like, a bit over powering and clearly needing a long decant. D+10hrs. Exceptional port. Smooth. Lots of vanilla both in smell...

Re: Latest buy
3 x Taylor 1977 VP for £113 all in per bottle. A very good wine, but seriously compromised by truly dreadful corks when first bottled. Recent late releases are all re-corked. Around 70% of T77 at auction have seepage issues.. Levels about 2cm into neck on all. Each bottle weights 1349g and no signs...

Although the intent was to open a Cr63, I reviewed my stash at home and found a G55 was seeping. The decision was easy and the bottle was stood 24 hours prior to opening. This bottle was one of three purchased from Cheffins in December 2018, the provenance being a Cambridge college cellar. There was...

Purchased at auction in July 2019. Fill level well into neck and no indication of seepage nor cork protrusion. On opening the bottle part of the cork broke but as usual likely operator error. A lot of chunky sediment on decanting. Decanted for 8 hours. On decanting a very dark red (indicated in pict...

Re: 1977 Graham
Ahhh! I must of been rather lucky! The wine improved with more time in the decanter and I would assess a 12 hour decant is about right. Is the presence of cork weevil in one bottle indicative of it being in others from a similar stash?
