Those both looked like very interesting offers. Can anyone remind me the history of Palmer? Is it one the van Zellers’ Barão de Vilar brands?

It is indeed, I believe normally reserved for the more premium juice.

Yes, IIRC from our visit there in 2018 or 2019, Palmer and Maynards are meant to be their higher-end brands.

Whilst I don't wish to cause mass hysteria, this may.

Dow Bomfim - 08 (maybe 09) £3.98. Unfortunately not on offer at mine -YMMV.

I'm going to guess this is a store-specific offer but that won't stop me checking my local store just to be sure!

Hysteria! Goose chase! Count me in… there hasn’t been a good wild poultry shoot for a while. But, sad to say that the ‘flagship’ of Asda stores that Weymouth is blessed with, had Bonfim 08 but it was at £28 rather than the ‘hot deal’. At least my curiosity was satisfied if not my cellar.

Waitrose seem to think that vintage dates are just a nuisance. Consequently, I never buy from them online.

I'm intrigued to know what the next LBV offering from Warre will be - it's about a year now since the '08 first appeard in the US, some time before it was offered in the UK. Was there no '05 - or did they skip it to give it more time to mature? I can understand them passing '06 as the vintage was difficult, although the Dow '06 LBV is a decent wine.

Just noticed that Marks & Spencer’s on St John’s Road, Clapham has Taylor 2015 LBV discounted from £17.14 to £13.00
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Further silly LBV pricing going on at Asda who have Graham LBV back at £9.00 a bottle for those who haven't already had their fill of that particular offer.

...And Sainsbury's appear to be in on the act with Graham crusted (photos show 2013 online) for £15 down from £20.

Aldi are selling off the Fletcher’s 2016 LBV in tube packaging that they were selling at £9.99, for £7.99, to clear the shelves. I think it was good value at the original price and even better with the 20% reduction.

Appears to be £8.99 online. Was this price in-store?

Yes. In store it dropped to £8.99 last week with a further drop at the weekend to £7.99. I guess it is possible it will go further south if the shelves don’t clear. One store near me still had about 10 to clear.

I can't quite believe that the reserve hasn't been met yet. But I guess that might be due to the mislabeling of what I can only assume is actually 1962 Noval.

If they can guarantee that none of these are corked, that might actually be a good price.

I still think it can't be as bad as the Croft '82.

At 39, the risk of cork taint is fading now, but VA ages disgracefully..

Hmm.. Cr82 is no superstar, but not a disaster area either - one well known writer has taken against this wine - but not entirely fairly though (IMO)..
