Over the years I have enjoyed a few films about wine, some of which have included passing references to Port. I thought a list of these films on the board might be of interest to others.
  1. Bottle Shock: 2008: 1h 50m: Comedy drama relating the events of the Judgement of Paris tasting in 1976.
  2. Red Obsession: 2013: 1h 19m: A short film about the Chinese discovering Bordeaux in the years up to 2006 and then falling out of love with the wine.
  3. Sour Grapes: 2016: 1h 25m: A film following Rudy Kurniawan's wine forging career.

I always enjoy, Bottle Shock 2008: American comedy-drama film based on the 1976 wine competition termed the "Judgment of Paris". Just think that it is good fun.

The 2016 (documentary) film “A Year in Port” (1h 26m) includes much more than a passing reference to Port, and includes a passing reference to Douro table wines.

Below is a list of documentaries and films based around wine that I have come across. As people might have time on the hands, other than Mike and those others saving us in this strange times, I recommend SommTV.com where you can register for a free 7day trial or and or subscribe for about £9 month (but google an offer discount code). On ther you will have access to the 3 Somm docs which I loved. The third one has a good segment featuring Cockburn 1908. There is also the three ‘A Year in...’ Docs made by David Kennard who some of you will remember. The Wine Masters series I got from iTunes and really enjoyed the French first series, but less so the Italian follow up.

Just watched Sour Grapes now and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For all his fraud, it seems like he was an incredibly talented individual. Thanks for the recommendation!

As are all con men.

(Disclaimer: I’ve been to three events with Rudy, i was invited along by other friends of mine. I refused to attend thereafter as I had a weird vibe from him that something wasn’t right. A few years later it all made sense).
