NV Fonseca Crusted 2001

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Mature red appearance with a wide rim. Atrractive and fruity nose, ripe and full of sweet red fruit. Balanced on entry, followed by lots of fruit on the mid-palate. Counterpointed by soft tannins and rounded fruit. The tannins dry the palate on the aftertaste before gentle berry flavours fill out the finish. Served blind this was guessed to be Niepoort Crusted bottled 2007. 88/100.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.

2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports.
