2017 Quinta do Crasto

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Purple shade to the red colour of this wine with a narrow rim. Big nose of esteva and lavender. Thick texture and dense entry full of rich floral fruit and chewy, slightly green tannins. A little over-extracted perhaps with a hint of bitterness showing in the fruit and some unintegrated spirit emerging. Chewy aftertaste and a finish of good length, of bitter black chocolate and dried sour cherry. This is an old-fashioned Port which will take a couple of decades to come round and show well. 87/100. Tasted 10-Apr-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
