A bottle included in the Q1 pack sent out by The Port Club in December 2020.
A lovely deep red colour, none of the exuberant purple of youth but not yet any of the brick tone of full maturity. A lovely gentle nose of fruits of the forest, gently stewed and spiced. Nicely balanced palate, smooth and satin texture. Soft bramble fruit with gentle acidity and tannins. A gentle peppercorn bite on the mid-palate. Light and gentle body. Some heat from the acidity on the aftertaste, which quickly settles to a sweet bramble finish with just the occasional element of black chocolate. Elegant and refined, a lovely fruit-forward ruby reserve which will happily cellar for 5-10 years. 87/100 Drunk 31-Jan-21. Tasting note taken 2 days after opening.
