2007 Marks and Spencer

Post by winesecretary »

30 min decant

90% opaque with a red rim.

The nose while still exuberantly fruity (blueberry, loganberry) has no spiritous note.

Rich smooth summer pudding, (made with Hovis brown) later plummy, palate, brief flick of spirit towards the end, no tannins to speak of, in truth ready to drink.

I am glad I have lots - but this confirms my intention to carry on drinking this one at at least annual intervals.

This is really nice wine, much better than almost any LBV or SQVP I have had in recent years. Only the Niepoort 2015 LBV, and possibly the Niepoort 2014 crusted, come close in quality. How was this ever six quid? The accounting of large retail claims truly is a wonder to behold.
