NV Churchill Tawny 10YO (bottled 2021)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the third Port.Club box; 50cl bottle believed to have been filled in 2021. A deep brick-red colour, 80% opaque. Lovely dried redcurrant and cranberries on the nose, very fruit forward with little VA showing. A slight thickness on the palate, hints of tannins and a lovely big mouthful of dried red fruit. The acidity is perfect to balance the fruit and prevent it from being too sweet. A gentle nuttiness to the aftertaste and a marzipan and aniseed finish. This is a delicious 10YO tawny which I will look out for on restaurant wine lists in the future. 88/100. Popped and poured from the wine storage unit (so about 12C) on 13 July 2021.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
