NV Fonseca Crusted 2015

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The label states this was bottled in May of 2015. Dark red in colour with a wide rim and opaque centre. Vibrant strawberry fruit on the nose, very vivacious. Slightly thick texture on entry, sweet strawberry initially but this is quickly smothered by the acidity and ghosts of the fine grained tannins. Lots of strawberry on the palate but some heat on the aftertaste. Good dry grip to the finish of strawberry jelly and menthol. Shows the Fonseca style very nicely and will happily sit in the cellar for a decade or two but drinks nicely - if a little youthfully - now. 88/100. Opened 10-Apr-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
