Fr45, decanted 13:30. Red-brown, 40% opaque. Nose of spearmint and red cherry. Palate dry, slightly hollow, with dry cherries. Maybe Portuguese-style, but lighter than my preference in VP.

Red-brown wine, deep umber rim. Pine resin on the nose. A strong showing for this port with good cherry fruit. Later, increasingly fine.

Ferreira 1945, decanted 13.15 and drunk 20.15. A lovely mature red fruit nose, sweet and fragrant. Nicely balanced palate, beautifully poised, with perfect balance between the sweet dried red fruit and the gentle pepper. Lovely aftertaste, exploding with fruit and a fabulous intensity of flavour on the long finish. A wonderful wine. 91/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
