1963 Constantino

Post by winesecretary »

A rich crimson.

In the mouth - oh, that's lovely. Cherryade. Cherry stones. Broad. Sweet. Cherries. Compelling wine.

Consumed 31/8/21

I am sad that Constantino is no longer made, mostly because of their beautiful labels with the capricious typography and ligatures!

Mature red colour, 60% opaque. Intense tobacco nose, wonderfully big. Beautiful balance on entry, blending mature fruit with intense acidity giving a fabulous brightness to the wine. Big and complex aftertaste, blending fruit and cinnamon. Absolutely wonderful wine. 96/100. Decanted 22 hours. Bottle from my cellar. Drunk 31-Aug-21.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
