1989 Burmester

Post by rich_n »

This port was brought by a friend to a week away in the countryside and consumed alongside a 2018 Calem to explore the difference between a very young port and one entering its early mature phase.

PnP - Quite spirity on the nose, but it doesn't taste like that. All candied fruits on the palate.

+5 hours - the nose is now subtle dried fruits. The palate is gorgeous, more balanced and very enjoyable. Candied orange dominates with some raisin and a lovely acidity cutting through the sweetness.

+1 day - this continued to be a delight. I forgot to take notes but the memory is of Christmas pudding - plenty of candied orange peel, raisins and plums. A very enjoyable port that didn't make it past a second evening.
