2013 Quinta do Portal LBV Bottled 2017
30 minute decant
95% opaque, red rim
Nose has leather, panda liquorice, blackcurrant, and a candy cigarette note, late.
Initial hit of black fruit on the palate. Then, quickly, lots of molasses. Very warm finish with drying, almost woody, tannins.
This is quite serious, but I am not sure how enjoyable it is. I do typically struggle with Portal's style. I'll leave it in the 'fridge for a few days to see how it comes on.

98% opaque, red rim.
Nose has less leather, more touriga blackcurrant, quite herbal.
Very herbal front palate, some dark fruit mid-palate, extremely herbal finish. Not quite medicinal, but it is really herbal, and quite close to black currant strepsil.
Better than day one.
Tasted 18/10/21 and 19/10/21.

Still 98% opaque.
Very blackcurrant on the nose. Quite cool fruit.
Less herbal on the front palate than hitherto, more cool dark fruit with a dusting of cocoa late-mid. Warm, white pepper, at end - but not hot.
Possibly a bit better than day 2.

Please can the administrative gods unite this tasting note with the other ditto, since they refer to the same bottle.
