1960 Dow vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A third bottle (bottle c) from the single lot of unknowns bought at auction. Orange in colour with a light rim; 25% opaque. Mature but oxidised on the nose, showing lots of rosemary. Raisins on the palate with an attractive fresh acidity to underpin the flavours. There is plenty of fruit, but this is quite dry and shows the tannins quite clearly. Hot aftertaste, with a massive finish of immense length. Served blind, this was guessed to be Dow 1966. 92/100. Drunk 23 April 2013 with a 6 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
