Mz63 opened 6:17PM. Cork came out in one piece! Very promising smell which nearly affected concentration on brewing an early Espresso.

Will be decanted in a spare empty bt ~ 4:30PM. Hope to arrive shortly after 6:00PM. :D

Gulp! I am not looking forward sampling the Offley 72 but will soldier on to do as told by DRT as a shared experience.

This was not my idea. Simon is a 1972 baby and wanted to try it. No one will be forced to participate

Derek is also bringing a Cockburn 1977.

Meanwhile the nose of the NN87 is not happy, so, as a precaution, a GM87 has been decanted.

Just to let you all know... Derek hasn't taken leave of his palate. The blame for the Offley 72 is entirely mine as Derek is very kindly bringing it for me to try.

All, unfortunately it looks as though I will be unable to attend this pm. My wife was ill overnight and in the absence of anyone else to look after her or my daughter, once again I am going to be a no show. My apologies for the late withdrawal :(

That's a shame. Hope your wife recovers quickly!

It's a cunning plan to avoid the OBV72 really, isn't it? (but I hope your wife recovers quickly, and it will be a shame not to have seen you).

Shame you won't make it, but I hope your wife recovers well with your help. It is a shame we won't be able to compare the Offley 70 with the OBV72 :-) but there are other fine bottles for the fine 72 vintage to take on this evening!
All the best and hope to see you for a glass soon.

My Cr63 was delivered together with the placemats to the B&F at lunchtime. JDAW has kindly offered to decant the Croft when he arrives, as I will not get there until 6.30.

Can I assume this was decanted at 6.17 am? Just want to update my tasting notes with the decanting times.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I think Wolfgang is using the Audouze method, so this was opened 06:17 (not pm) but not decanted until 16:30.
Have we ever done a tasting to try and prove whether there is any value to Audouze?
e.g. a case tasting with:
4 bottles opened at 08:00, decanted 08:00
4 bottles opened at 08:00, decanted 14:00
4 bottles opened at 14:00, decanted 14:00
The blind the bottles and taste, score etc.

Phil is right, I opened it 6:17 AM and decanted it ~ 30 mintes before heading to the B&F so ~ 5:00 PM. Sorry for the typo.
