It is not me, the Mrs, who can give permission for this tasting. It's a young Miss Wiseman who might think the 22nd March is an important date.

Good luck, husband. I don't think it's going to go your way. Sophia is a force to be reckoned with.

JDAW is lying. Special permission has not been sought. Miss Wiseman, who has her 7th birthday on the 22nd of March, will not be happy. This is between you and your eldest, Darling Husband. Leave me out of it. Sorry, but I don't really think she'll be too happy.

If it was up to me, I'd say no. But if you can charm your little girl, then more power to you.

-Wifey Wiseman.

Gentlemen, start your engines.

I have browsed the various offers of bottles and complied a list of vintages that we will taste. The range is 1920 to 1994. The cost per head is £250 plus food and tip, so assume £300 all in.

If anyone wants to duck out now please let it be known here or by email or PM. I will be requesting money late next week, which is conveniently after pay day for most.

Normal rules apply - stump up or expect to be replaced by someone on the reserve list

Thanks to all who have offered bottles. You will be rewarded in heaven (or on the night if you prefer)

I am working until 5pm in Birmingham so I might be as late as 7:30pm. Would this pose a problem? This is shaping up to be my last event :( Heading back to Australia in June. Nice to see it off in style however!

You do not really think that someone will raise their arms now, do you? Nice lineup, excellently done.

Line-up updated again.

Following some suggestions from the team I have decided to remove T92 and T94 from the list on the basis that they are way too young to show at their best, particularly amongst their older and more mature siblings.

Updated draft of the placemats.
  • Is there enough room on the table for an A3 and an A4 each, and room to take TNs?
    • If there is, this layout should be good. In which case, do people prefer that the A4 be youngsters, or oldsters?
    • Is there isn’t we’ll have to do overlapping, which will be, on the day, much more faffing with double-sided sticky tape.
    DRT: instruct.
  • Any other corrections or changes?
  • I cannot print to A3. Can somebody else print, such that we will have everything early in time for pre-pouring?

Space: I don't know.

Feedback: The contrast between very light and very dark titles proved to be a problem at a recent tasting. Perhaps reconsider the patterns used?

Lightness made more uniform, even if not exactly uniform.

It would be best to know before the day.

Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Or someone who has nothing to do all day could visit with a measuring tape or call and ask?

I asked TBH to remove all unnecessary furniture from the room and make the table as long and as wide as possible by allowing access only around one end, with the other end hard up against the wall. If memory serves that is almost exactly flumpety point flump flump metres. Please cope. Thanks.

Folks might be interested in TV70-themed pictures. But please post P.&.A. chatter here, rather than there.

Edit: and T48 and T24.

This is excellent, thank you for posting. Let's hope that the others who are providing bottles will decide to respond (positively) to my email of two days ago requesting early collection so that more pictures can appear to whet our appetites.
