Or I could bring a Delaforce, which I may be able to get my hands on. Does anyone have any other 'smaller' names (Cálem?)

I own 1 bt of Ferreira 1966 which I reserved for a Ferreira tasting if I recall correctly. Niepoort 1966 is very difficult and expensive to get hold of. It is an excellent port!RAYC wrote:
I would love to try Ferreira....(oh, and Niepoort / Nacional while we're at it!)
Next question: is this to be done semi-blind?

Probably not an issue, but I would now not be able to bring the Dow; after examining all bottles today, I found the Dow capsule had disintegrated, and the cork was failing. On extraction, it was a slightly spongy cork which simply seemed not quite wide enough; In any case, I immediately decanted the win, and it is superb, so no harm done; just an unexpected opening of a Dow66 on a Saturday night - what a hardship! However, as it was my only bottle of this, it is now no longer available for Jun 27; am assuming I will be bringing the W66 anyway.PhilW wrote:I can bring either a Warre or Dow 66, both obtained from good provenance; I propose to bring the Warre.
Note to Rob - your bottle is the companion to this one from the same source; hopefully yours will be fine, but definitely worth checking the capsule to be sure.

This should now be updated to phenomenal; perhaps the best bottle I have drunk this year, with possible except of the Niepoort '42. Wow. I'm in (or half a bottle through) port heaven I'd submit a tasting note, but... ahhhhh... bliss.....PhilW wrote:In any case, I immediately decanted the wine, and it is superb, so no harm done.

If there are enough people who wish to taste this, we should buy it from wherever we can get it. It's only June 27th once a year.WS1 wrote:Niepoort 1966 is very difficult and expensive to get hold of. I'd be willing to chop a bottle if people feel it is worth it.
Should be a great tasting either way -- i'm getting excited!

Excellent Wolfgang! We were sorry to miss you at the Doty Cup. I look forward to catching up.
I've penciled in your contribution as the Noval, let me know if that seems suitable.
Quite a fine line up starting to take shape!

Greetings all! Please count me in for this. I looked up the address of this place, but not sure I found the same. (Might have changed names?). Anyway, can someone please provide the address. Also, what are some bottles available for adoption? (or I could chip in - whatever works best for the tasting group).
Thanks, and Saude!

At last year's mini-66 horizontal, jdaw1 was in need of a bottle and purchased a Taylor 66 from the Davy's list that showed very nicely (TN here). Since Taylor is the one "big boy" that is yet to be included in the line-up, that might be a good place to start - especially as Davy's still seem to have it on their list. I'd have thought it might be worth speaking toThe Bunghole to arrange delivery to The Bunghole directly in plenty of time for it to stand and settle (or i can do so if instructed).djewesbury wrote:I need to adopt!
I'd imagine next on the list are a "confirmed" Dow 66 or a Sandeman. If no one has those available for adoption, there's some nice-looking stock of Morgan 66 available here. I presume from the same auction stock as the sole bottle of this that seems to be in the TN archives. I recently made a large purchase with this company, so again am happy to liaise if instructed and take delivery / stand / decant.
Any thoughts from the congregation? Chris?

My desire to taste ports I haven't yet tried makes me think this is possibly a favourable option.. although the TN posted doesn't really exalt its virtues..RAYC wrote:... there's some nice-looking stock of Morgan 66 available here...

Agree that Taylors would be the obvious candidate; FRW have some with missing labels for fair price (they also have a NN66..). If neither Taylors nor Niepoort then I'd have tried to find a Noval 66 next.RAYC wrote:Any thoughts from the congregation? Chris?

Their minimum order is £200. I am getting some stuff delivered from my store with them this week, to my Dad's in London. If anybody else wants to order something from them, so that we can get over the threshold, I will go for the Taylor and have it added on to the delivery I'm expecting..PhilW wrote:FRW have some with missing labels for fair price
I did mention this Niepoort a while ago but surprisingly nobody wanted to go in with me on it..PhilW wrote:f neither Taylors nor Niepoort

Hi! I'm looking forward to seeing you all on the 27th. I still need to adopt a bottle.
Does anyone have anything to bring, which I would pay you the money for?
If by chance nobody has a bottle to sell me, I will, of course, pay cash to the group to cover the financial aspect of my share.
Thanks.

Panic (hopefully) over. I think I have secured a Taylor. A few Essexian options have presented themselves and one will hopefully come good. I will most likely arrive early and decant at the Bung Hole, as I'm only flying in that morning. If anyone else is there earlier on in the day, all well and good.djewesbury wrote:I need to adopt!

After a bit of nudging, Tom is likely to be able to attend with a Sandeman 66.
