1963 Warre

Post by jdaw1 »

At Bonham’s on 18 February 2016 was sold most of a pipe of Fonseca 1963, not moved since original purchase (lots 324 to 343).

So, on Wednesday 15th June 2016, we gathered in the Boot & Flogger to compare six of these, which were joined by a selection of other English-bottled Vintage Ports.

Bottled by Berry Brothers. Mature red rose in colour, 50% opaque. Lively nose with the sweet fruit leading. Gentle and perfumed fruit entry with a lovely elegance to the soft fruit and a surprising amount of tannins sitting in the raspberry jelly. An elegant and long lasting finish. Lovely port. 92/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
