1970 Graham
Bottled by Matthew Gloag & Son Ltd, Perth. Drunk at a fish restaurant in Matosinhos. Deep brick red in colour, opaque centre. Lively nose of strong juniper berries and dried pine needles. Smooth texture delivering concentrated black cherries still hints of dark chocolate tannins. Big on the mid palate and lively on the late palate although a touch monolithic. A huge aftertaste and finish with a massive amount of sour cherry and black chocolate. An amazingly youthful port. 95/100. 24-Jun-16. Decanted 10 hours.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
