1963 Offley

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port Provided by the kindness of Sean C. Decanted for 4 hours before drinking. Pale colour, pale centre, very light edge. Ripe plums cut in half and stored in syrup dominate the nose. Light into the mouth with lots of fruit in the mid-palate and plenty of liveliness that will keep this port alive for a good few years yet. Good length. A good showing of a fine and mature port that is drinking nicely right now. 91/100. Drunk on 8/2/08.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Reading Roy's Boston Blog on FTLOP, I found that this was a bottle that he brought with him from Seattle. Roy - thanks for bringing a birth year port for me. I always enjoy drinking ports from 1963 for the extra fun of having a port almost exactly the same age as me!
