1977 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at a Blind Emergency on 1st August 2017.

Lovely mid-red colour, 60% opaque; looking to be mature but not old. Shows little on the nose but is sweet, balanced and fragrant on the palate. Delicious strawberry on the mid-palate, offset by a very fine-grained and flower-perfumed tannin. Fragrant and elegant on the finish. This is a beautiful port, so elegant yet with surprsing power and an immense length. Very, very fine. Served blind this was guessed to be Sandeman 1966. 94/100. 01-Aug-17. Decanted 13 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

T77, brought by CPR. Dark red, 50%. Palate of big sweetness, black pepper. Huge and too young. Big black plum.
