To mark the occasion of Mr Wolfgang Starz having become British, some of his new compatriots gathered at The Boot & Flogger to drink Port Fit for a New Subject of Her Majesty.
Thank you all for the great evening! Having now become a British citizen I am looking forward to many more tastings. Also our experiment with the extra ordering of the Steaks paid off. I think we should do this again. Despite the Steaks were always good at the B&F this was a step up worth paying for in my humble opinion.
To complement the view that we had only excellent ports that evening I feel the most of the 70s ports would have benefited from earlier opening and decanting. This would have helped them showing more "fragrance" and complexity. However I admit in such condition 63s and 66s are difficult to match in taste profile.

A very good evening indeed. Thank you. Fine steaks and an excellent line up that lived up to its promise. I agree that the 70s could have been decanted earlier as they got better as the night wore on. F66 head and shoulders above the rest for me, fantastic bottle. I also liked the Warre 70 but nobody else wanted to mention it.

I have no idea. If no one else knows I guess we'll have to look now

That's Wolfgang wearing the outfit he had to put on for the final ceremony where he swore allegiance to the Queen, the whole Queen and nothing but the Queen.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.
2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports.

Isn't it Donald Trump's mother in the village hall on the Isle of Lewis on the day she boarded the Mayflower?
