50% opacity, dark red. Pepper, some heat, dark fruits, bitter chocolate, lacking acidity and sharpness.

Dark black-red colour, 90% opaque. Fresh red fruit on the nose, sweet and floral. Smooth entry with a refined and languid fruit flavour. Such lovely development of flavour on the palate. Incredible layers of flavour — followed by soft tannins and yet more flavours! A lovely acidity keeps the wine in focus and emphasises the big licorice aftertaste that has just a hint of aniseed heat. Multiple layers of flavour ripple through the finish, which never finishes. This is such a great Port, and this bottle has just started to move to its secondary plateau. 96/100. Decanted 5 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
