1979 Warre LBV (unfiltered)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 1984, bottle matured. Dark red with an opaque centre and a transparent rim. Spicy, peppery nose that is full of rich blackberries. Gentle peppery entry with sweet and balanced fruit. Medium-weight on the palate; perhaps a touch simple but has a nice mouth-feel. Some lovely aromatics develop and the soft tannins show on the late palate. The tannins show on the aftertaste and as part of the long finish that is full of dried brambles. Perhaps starting to dry out? 85/100. Drunk 22-Sep-14. Decanted 4½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
