The first Vintage Port release under the Broadbent label. Broadbent Ports are made by Dirk Niepoort, but from blends specially selected for Bartholomew Broadbent. Around 300 cases are made of each vintage and are available in the UK through Top Selections.

This was Bartholomew's last bottle and, sadly, had lots of VA on the nose. A gentle brick-red colour with a wide rim and an opaque centre. The VA gives a high tone to the palate and spoils something that feels like it would otherwise be very good. The aftertaste and finish are very good, a lingering bittersweet aniseed and cranberry. Pity about the VA. Not rated. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
