1970 Smith Woodhouse

Put on as a "by the glass" special at the Boot & Flogger. Wonderful mature red colour, 60% opaque. A complex and spicy nose with lots of edgy tobacco and sweet dusty cherry syrup. Poised on the palate, fresh cherry fruit and a great acidic core. Fragrant and spicy, this really gives the palate a kick! The tobacco spice really liven up the late palate. Wonderful freshness to the aftertaste, lots of cherry and fragrance before a huge dose of cracked peppercorn and black licorice takes over. Very long and complex finish. This is a superb bottle of this excellent Port. 94/100. Drunk 29-Oct-19. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
