9 hour double decant, recorked and refrigerated for half of intervening period.
Cork came out clean, good (BN) level.
Very strong nose of pine needles, literally like the scent when walking through a pine forest. Our Portuguese wine waiter immediately identified it: 'aguardente!' And once he said it it was obvious that the fortifying spirit had been (at least in part) a local product.
Anyway, a rich ripe port behind the pine needles, nice griotte cherry flavours, finishing with orange marmelade.
Completely ready but showing no signs of being at the end of its drinking window.
Really very good port.
